If there’s no Rain (Bi), then is it really a 2010 awards show?
A representative from the J.Tune camp let media know today that Rain will not be participating nor attending the Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) this year. Because of filming for the KBS2 drama “Fugitive Plan B,” Rain cannot make time for the awards show, although he was initially in the list of performers.
Being one of the biggest, most popular, and most successful acts of 2010, Kpop fans everywhere are wondering what kind of awards show it will be without the world star present. Rain will not be the only one left out. According to their severed ties with Mnet, SM Entertainment groups, including Super Junior, Girls Generation, and SHINee, will also not be participating. On the other hand, 2NE1, 2PM, and Miss A, along with others, have already confirmed they will be in present for the 2010 MAMA.
For Korea’s largest Kpop entertainment music channel, it’s a little disappointing that they are missing out many of 2010′s largest acts. Be it bad timing or politics, fans are already a little disappointed in how incomplete this year’s awards will be. They’ll probably just try to spice it up with some hype about a kiss between a young idol star and an aging idol diva… Just a guess (following the trends of 2008, 2009).
The 2010 MAMA will be held in Macau’s Venetian Hotel on the 28th. Are you still looking forward to Mnet’s end-of-the-year show?
